Enterprise High School is a public high school in Redding, California.
History: Enterprise High School was established in 1954.
The Music Department: Enterprise High School is known for its marching and concert bands, which have been directed by Dan Neece since the 1980s. Neece also directs the �Starship� program, a music-oriented music program which gives well-known performances in Redding and elsewhere. The music department also features a choir program directed by Deborah Divine.
Sports: The mascot of Enterprise high school is the Hornet. Enterprise High School has a variety of sports, including football and basketball. Their main rival is Shasta High School, the other major high school in Redding. Every October the two schools play a football game called the River Bowl. Enterprise High School won the river bowl for about 10 consecutive years, but this winning streak was broken in 2004 when Shasta won the game. For many years students from Shasta, Enterprise and Foothill High Schools vandalized each other�s schools before football and basketball games, but the administrations have been cracking down on this in recent years, beginning in 2002. Other successful programs at Enterprise include skiing and swimming. The Cross Country and Track & Field programs have sent the most athletes onto 4 year universities than any sport at Enterprise. Athletes such as Kenny Frank (University of Arizona), Jenifer James (Cal State University, Chico), Ryan Nickel, (Cal State University, Sacramento) Bryce Lighthall (Cal State University, Fullerton), and Lindsey Kirchman (University of Washington) have all made major contributions representing Enterprise High School. The Football program recently had an alumnus make the highest ranks of his sport and is now playing in the NFL: Ryan O' Callahan plays for the New England Patriots since 2006.
Academics: Enterprise High School is a state recognized distinguished school in California. The foreign languages offered are French and Spanish, and there is also a drama department. Enterprise currently offers Honors and Advanced Placement Courses in: English(British Literature, American Literature, Composition), Biology, Physics, Chemistry, History, Statistics, Trigonometry, and Calculus.
Telecommunications and Broadcasting: Enterprise is one of the few schools in northern California that have a professional grade news studio. The currently running news show is referred to as "The Not So Early Show" (Previously "The Weekly Show"). The editing software that they are currently using is Sony Vegas 5.0 (also occasionally Final Cut Pro HD).
