Caledonia High School

When I attended this school, it wasn''t much short of your typical high school. There were cliques, most teachers definitely picked favorites, and the administration did a poor job handling certain corruptions that are seen in high school. The teachers that I had loved their jobs and honestly made my experience there absolutely incredible. They handled situations perfectly and always did what was right, not what would make people like them more. These teachers were a vital point in my life, and they helped get me where I am today. I do wish we had a better history program that didn''t involve a bunch of coaches getting given a history position to add something on their payroll, but I guess all that can be done is the bare minimum. There are several extracurricular activities, but none of them get the funding they need except for football and maybe two others. Most sports and extracurriculars have to do their own fundraising simply to continue running normally, so if your kid is sports-minded, they better be good at football or baseball or be good at persuading people to donate money. There is no theater program, but the choir program and band were exceptional compared to others around Caledonia. Honestly, the band director and choir teacher alone make this school worth going to. Mr. Wilbanks and Mrs. Doolittle contribute so much to their work, and you can really tell they love their job and love being able to teach those kids. They are the most dedicated teachers here, though the art teacher isn''t too far behind them. Regardless, if you want to send your child here, remember a lot of the students have family in the school system and almost everyone knows one another, so it''ll be hard at first to make friends if they''re from out of state.

This school was not the greatest, when I was there as a student. Teachers and Principals were not giving their best or were they trying to keep a good environment. The school felt like a prison. The teachers sometimes can't really explain the lesson very well and most of us drop or get held back. My sister, which is now in there also, has problems with the bus drivers and students. They will not do anything about it. So I recommend you not to let your child go here. It was stressful for me and my sisters.

I cant see how this school rated anything above a 4 as an average, meaning that if 100 people rated this school all of them would have maybe a 5 (15 out of 100). If your are not from here then don't come here expecting your kids to have a fair shot at doing anything and then have your kids go to school to be successful. PLAIN AND SIMPLE, it is clear on your initial sign-up that they don't want your uppity kids at their school. The school street address is "Confederate Way". I used to look at the parents who home schooled their kids and thought they were losing out on having an interaction or a social environment. Now, I thin it is probably the best given the situation. Military people and kids up to a year or so ago were not allowed to go to the school and now they are, because they get money for you kids to go there. That money is not spent on any resources for your kids. Please, God please don't have an issue with your kid and have to deal with the school administration. Your automatically the offender and bet on not receiving fair consideration in your case. Lastly, as a community we have to come together when issues come up involving our children.
