School Reviews

5   4/5/2010
Students have a choice to take challenging honors courses, along with standard college prep classes. To remain in a honors class the student must maintain a B average in the class. Advance Placement classes are offered to seniors with the appropriate grades. Guidence counselors are helpful and active in student's scholastic careers. Teachers are open-mineded and helpful. Many have a system of learning that is easy to pick up and makes it easier for students to learn. Students have all state required classes, 45 minutes long, and for two of the nine periods are involved in a "shop class". The majority of the shop classes offer college credits or job training. For the first year of their high school experience the students will go through "exploratory class", of which there are four. The students of exploratory classes are given the chance to participate in every shop class at least once, in order to better understand their potential shop choices. The building is huge, and there is plenty of space available. Most classes are relatively small, holding on average about twelve students to a single teacher and aid. Parent involvement in student affairs is encouraged. Last but certainly not least, with such a variety of students with ranging interests, there are PLENTY of clubs, sports, and organizations for students to participate in. The most popular sports are Basketball, Soccer, Swimming, & XC - at least that's how it seems
