My daughter is zoned for a Summerlin HS and chose to attend Veteran's. No regrets. She will continue at Veteran's for 2016/2017 school year. She is glad to get away from her Elementary and Middle School peers. She has become more independent since starting here. Veteran's has a Community College feel and the small school population is a HUGE plus. Less than 800 students is better than our regular Middle Schools and of course the High Schools. Technology is used which is a plus for real world preparation. Textbooks are on the school issued iPads and so are the assignments. No need to carry all of those heavy textbooks anymore. Real life experiences for real world readiness is very much the feel at Veteran's. Staff is helpful and return calls immediately. Even though the location of the school is not the greatest, kids feel safe and are safe. Students are required to volunteer which is a great way to give them real life experiences. Great for building the resume and making connections.

I used to be a full time teacher, and now I just substitute teach. I have substituted at MANY schools. I know which are good and which are bad, based on dealing with students (behavior / school routines / school "culture). I can tell you that far and above, this school is absolutely the BEST experience I've ever had.
These are by far the most respectful and hard working students I've dealt with ... even at the freshman level. This small school is filled with lots of expensive equipment and students can be trusted to care for said equipment, use it properly, and NOT STEAL it!
Other teachers and administration were also extremely helpful. Just an amazing and pleasurable overall experience. Trust me, THIS is where you want to work as a teacher. If you are a parent and you are sending your teenager to a public / magnet high school, THIS IS THE PLACE. Yes, there are other very good magnet high schools in Las Vegas, but this is the upper echelon!
I can hardly wait to work there again.
