I feel very lucky to have my child at this school. It has a nice neighborhood feel and it is consistently one of the highest performing elementary/middle schools in Baltimore City. The teachers are dedicated and turnover is low. The principal is motivated, accessible (very!), and focused on taking a whole-child approach to education. My child's class size is small and there are plenty of school-wide events and "extras" to keep students engaged. The parent and community support also is impressive (PTO, Friends of Hampden, and community partners).

Need more monitoring...especially after school. The workers including helpers need to learn how to communicate with a respectful tone and not come off as a bully. Im an adult and i dont accept being talked down to.

Posted March 04, 2017- a parentI have two children at this school (2nd grade and kindergarten). They have both been offered opportunities for gifted and advanced learning and come home happy and brimming with knowledge every day. They enjoy recess, art, and reading time in the gorgeous new library. My husband and I are so happy with the challenging curriculum at Hampden and the excellent quality of the teaching.

Hi im a student who went to hampden elementrey/ middle school #55 and to be honest i miss the school very much im in high school but i wish i was still in #55 i miss all of my teachers and the staff. But most of all I miss being a MUSTANG!!!!!!!! I wish there was some way to go back in the school but there isn't and i miss all of my friends that i met at #55 and my middle school teachers i miss them a lot i had the same teachers for 3 years and i wish i still had them now because they love there students and help them as much as they can i recomend this school for any child i loved it there at #55 and so will u and now that i realize it im glad my sisters are still in #55 and i hope they love that school like i did because once your gone out of #55 you would still wish that could be your school forever.
