This is an excellent school! Get ready to work hard. If you are driven, motivated and have an attitude to succeed, you will do well at this competitive school. If you are laid back and plan to ease your way through the 4 years of high school without doing homework, you will have a very difficult time. Due to the competitive nature of this school, you are push and challenge more than you can imagine. The teachers are outstanding and go above and beyond to support students. This school could do a better job with diversity programs. Also, their discipline policy needs to be revisited, too strict. If you are a student moving to Lexington High School, your first year will be a shock to your mental state. You will almost think you are attending college. Once you get a hang of the academics and expectations, you will do well. I would recommend to ask a lot of questions and immediately make contact with your counselor to discuss any concerns. Do not isolate because of the stress and pressure. This school can make a healthy student get mental illness due to pressure and competitive nature. For certain, you will be more than college ready when you graduate. Be blessed and take care of yourself.

LHS has had outstanding academics, outstanding teachers and outstanding students. It is like Lake Wobegon, except every child is not in the top 50%, they are all in the top 10%. So this creates stress and competition as many seeks to excel and there are only so many great college opportunities. For the student that is less motivated or inclined to stay up late on schoolwork, LHS can be difficult as well, as there is limited support. Bottom line, this is a great place if you are super talented and like to work hard. For everyone else, not so much.

My name is Lauren and I am currently a senior student at Lexington High school! Unfortunately, with the Covid-19 pandemic occurring globally right now, the final year of my high school career has currently come to a halt, of sorts, leaving the fate of my senior prom and high school graduation hanging in the balance. As for my experience with the school itself, I have learned a lot during my 4 years here, made so many cool and supportive friends, and gotten to know many amazing male and female teachers. There has been plenty of difficulty and hardship, but I will always be grateful for the time I spent here.
