School Reviews

Northeast is filled with potential thanks to the passionate teachers and programs put into place by the district to improve student performance and close gaps. Unfortunately, the administration lets the students run the school and do not hold them accountable nor do the coaches of sports teams. The challenging behaviors with the lack of laziness and support make it an unpleasant and sometimes unsafe environment. There is not enough focus on filling in gaps and lots on giving kids work on grade-level they are don't have the skills for yet. They preach using strategies instead of teaching skills. The district doesn't help by adding hours to the school year and the day-like quantity over quality is the solution when in reality kids are being burned out as are the hardworking teachers. Someday they may get an admin team that has a stronger balance of traditional and progressive methods for motivating children to achieve and these kids will finally have the chance to thrive.

Feeder pattern needs to be reviewed to ensure NEMS is not being inundated with a very challenging student population both academically & behaviorally while other middle schools are stacked with the more privilleged students who are more motivated to learn. Teachers there truly care and are doing their best to support their students but the regional & central offices are not very supportive and do not seem to understand or care about how low morale has dropped among staff. I would recommend as a workplace if you are an educator who willing & mentally able to tolerate the harsh conditions but not sure I would enroll my child here.
