I feel that we are very fortunate as a school district to have a music department. Unfortunately, many school administrations cut music from their curricula, citing a lack of funding. Not only is River Valley blessed with a music department, but we are also lucky to have dedicated music teachers who help build a strong musical foundation for our students. These students have the opportunity to be part of the school band and/or chorus.A few years ago, our marching band faced declining numbers, but with the support of new staff, it is now growing healthily each year. River Valley students can take their musical interests to the next level in various ways, including participating in Honors Band and/or Chorus, Marching Band, Band, Chorus, and the school''s annual musical. The skills that RV music students acquire-such as discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and music reading-are invaluable and will benefit them for the rest of their lives. We are truly fortunate to have music education available for our students at River Valley.
