School Reviews

5
Academy has been an amazing school for my son. He easily disengages from classwork when he is not interested, and the project-based learning has kept him motivated and steadily progressing in his studies. He has learned collaboration, negotiation, teamwork, and self-advocacy, and the projects have given him the opportunity to pursue deep learning, especially in areas that interest him. This school is not for everyone. If your student cannot keep up with largely self-paced learning and needs more structure and management, then they will likely not thrive. There are several AP classes, but the students need to study a lot on their own, as the curriculum does not always provide all the necessary material for test day. Overall, if your child would prefer a school with a little more flexibility and opportunities to shine creatively in both the arts and sciences, Academy is a great choice.

White Students are Now the Minority in U.S. Public Schools
Increasing birth rates among immigrant families from Asia and Central and South America, combined with lower birth rates among white families, means that for the first time in history, public school students in the United States are majority-minority. This shift in demographics poses difficulties for schools as they work to accommodate children of varying language abilities and socio-economic backgrounds.
